I Miss It Already

Oh Dallas Morning News, you were the best paper EVER (requires registration BugMeNot).

Just . . . not quite in the way you think you were.

What's their motto -- "all the frivolous non-news that's fit to print on toilet paper"?

If it's any comfort, the Orlando Sentinel is just as bad. One patronizing, ladies-garden-club-newsletter style article after another. And everything written in small, simple words so the stupid soccer moms they seem to think their readership consists of will understand it. They still think they're being "daring" and "edgy" if they write something about AIDs. All of their serious news stuff is off the NYT's website from last week. I don't even buy the Sunday edition anymore, as I used to do that for the ads, and I don't really have enough money for that to be more than torture these days.

Or as I also think of it, "Now With 100% More Rod Dreher Than National Review."

"Now With 100% More Rod Dreher Than National Review."

You say that like it's a good thing.

It is in the sense that it's made reading The Corner somewhat more bearable.

He's a frequent commenter on Amy Welborn's Open Book blog. I now think of him as "Rod 'The Pope's Not Catholic Enough for Me' Dreher." I'm just waiting for him to announce he's gone Pentecostal.
