I had a friend once to whom I once unwisely confided my efforts at writing, and my desire to publish a novel or two. Soon after she got this idea that we should both write a book together. Fortunately she was one of those people with twenty-thousand irons in the fire, and the scheme never went anywhere, which was a huge relief to me because the very idea of "collaborating" on something so personal as writing a novel made my skin crawl.

I simply could NOT collaborate on something like that either. I would end up killing the other person. I think I'd probably say, "what, are you f'n kidding me?" if someone actually suggested it.

Of course, this is coming from the person who lets a substandard speller write at her blog. Now excuse me while I go play human spell-checker.
